- : If your modem is really reluctant to drop the connection when another call
- : comes in, try setting your modem's S10 register to a lower value. This
- : register controls the duration your modem waits after it loses carrier
- : before it decides the other modem has "gone away". The default (in all
- : modems I've encountered) is 7, or 7/10 of a second, but your modem's might
- : be set higher which could explain its persistence. I don't know what you
- : should change it to, so experimentation is in order. The perfect value is
- : probably specific to each person's local phone company.

- I have set the S10 register to the highest value 255 but still it loses
-
- carrier when someone dial in due to call waiting. I know the actual
-
- delay duration for the modem to wait is equal to register S10-S9. And I
-
- have checked my S9 is only 6. Can any expert out there give me some
-
- more advices?
